Well, it what will be the fourth trial continuance, Chille DeCastro’s criminal trial for two misdemeanors has been continued to March 19, 2024 since the arresting officer could not attend trial today. Chille appeared by Zoom, which was possibly due to the fact that he knew on Friday that the case was not proceeding today. So this continuance was not Chille’s fault. Even though he is represented by counsel, I think Chille made a mistake of addressing the judge directly, and in a rude manner. Maybe he didn’t know or intend it to come across that way, but that’s how it sounded to me, resulting in two benchslaps. Since he is represented by counsel, his lawyer does the talking. I have a “poll” as to whether you think he’ll be convicted on one charge, both charges, or acquitted. He is presumed innocent. I think the statutes are unconstitutional, but that’s from a California perspective. I think they are too vague and generalized, but the Nevada Supreme Court says otherwise. Obviously, this is not legal advice, no attorney-client relationship was formed (or can be formed), and its simply my opinion from reviewing all the evidence before me from a California perspective.
