Michael P. Villani, a fifty-nine year Las Vegas resident, was appointed to the Eighth Judicial District Court in April 2007. He attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1979. Thereafter, he attended California Western School of Law in 1982. Following law school he was a Deputy District Attorney and upon leaving the District Attorney’s office he entered into private practice handling both civil and criminal cases. While in private practice he was appointed to be an Alternate Municipal Court Judge, Justice of the Peace Pro Tem, Small Claims Court Judge and Certified Court Arbitrator. Also, while in private practice he was appointed by the State Bar to the Fee Dispute Committee and Disciplinary Board. Upon taking the Bench he has twice served as a Group Facilitator/Leader for the National Judicial College General Jurisdiction course for new judges. He has been on the Court’s Executive Committee for the last three years.
