The State asked the Court to compel Snap to produce documents previously produced in related multistate investigations, which the Court ordered heard on shortened time, the hearing of which was scheduled for August 25, 2026, at 9 a.m. Snap filed a countermotion seeking changes to a stipulated protective order, citing produced discovery in other social media cases involving allegations of harmed youth, explaining that some requested material may include sensitive user information and confidential documents obtained through federal and California coordinated proceedings. Snap also opposed the State's motion to compel production of documents, arguing it had already produced nearly one million pages.
Snap, Inc. requested a stay of discovery, citing a writ petition filed before the Supreme Court that argued a lack of personal jurisdiction mandated dismissal of all claims made against it. Snap, Inc. replied that a temporary stay was warranted because of a likelihood of successfully convincing the Supreme Court. Separately, Snap, Inc. filed supplemental authority of Massachusetts precedent staying a TikTok matter pending appeal in a related Meta case. The State of Nevada responded with a motion to strike, arguing the filing was unauthorized, untimely, and procedurally improper.
