Mr. Leon Aberasturi has been a member of the Nevada State Bar since 1993. He serves in Department Two of the Third Judicial District Court in and for the County of Lyon. He was elected in 2006 to a partial term and was reelected in 2008 and 2014. As the Third Judicial District Court is a general jurisdiction court, he handles all matters including criminal, civil, and family law cases. Prior to becoming a judge, he served six years as the Lyon County District Attorney. He received an initial appointment for the position and then was elected to a full term in 2002. He also served as a deputy district attorney in Lyon and Lander counties from 1994 to 2001. He served both as a criminal prosecutor and provided many different government boards with legal advice in civil matters. He has been married for twenty-eight years to Dr. Suzanne Aberasturi who is a licensed psychologist, in Reno, practicing mostly in neuro-psychology. He has three children who are currently in college working on graduate degrees.
