Erika Mendoza began her education at the University at Buffalo, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Legal Studies in 2004. She then pursued her Juris Doctor at the UNLV Boyd School of Law, graduating in 2011. She also externed with Judge Douglas Herndon and the Las Vegas City Attorney's Office. Upon passing the Nevada Bar in 2011, she served as a law clerk in the Appellate Unit of the Clark County District Attorney's Office. In April 2012, she was promoted to Deputy District Attorney in the General Litigation Team, where she prosecuted a wide range of crimes, including murder, sexual abuse, crimes against children, drug crimes, domestic violence, and financial crimes. In June 2018, she transitioned to the Gun Crimes Unit as a Chief Deputy District Attorney. She was then promoted to Team Chief of the Gun Crimes Unit.
